Home > eZine > A Real Humanitarian Case

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing not for any benefit for our company but please read on...this is a real humanitarian case for which I kindly beg for your assistance.

By coincidence I have come across this young man of 34 ( to protect his identity and his privacy we will call GG) who has been in pain for the last 17 years (yes 17 years!) with a tumor in his back and another in his neck. To date he has been operated upon in his back for many times including operations abroad paid for by the Maltese Government. The tumor in his back is not malign but he is not yet guaranteed that the tumor in his neck is not.

GG's assets are that he is a very intelligent man and his only apparent handicap is that he cannot perform strenuous work (such as carrying boxes). He also cannot do strenuous walking ...even walking a small gradient on a long street can tire him. He is sometimes in great pain.....But otherwise he's a very bright chap with the courage of a lion!

We are planning (with your kind assistance) to help this person in various ways:

1. We are trying to get him a computer (which I am sure he can grasp) so that we will teach him how to use WORD and EXCEL etc...

2. After this training and skill, we plan to find him a part-time job (he is also fit for a full time job...but the problem is that he has no car and can't walk for long distances...so if he is that lucky that he finds an employer who is ready to pick him up and take him back home he will be prepared to work full time...) The employer has to be kind with him as on some days he is in real pain and will need to spend a day or so at hospital.

3. We are also trying to create a fund to collect about Lm 1,500....the money he needs to buy a reasonably good second hand car. Don't forget this person is imprisoned in his own home, does not have friends who visit him etc... With this car he would also be able to accept jobs on a full time basis and would be completely mobile.

I can assure you that this person is not rich and neither his family are. I have personally visited his home and you can take my word for it. I could not help shedding a tear when he told me that I was the only person who sat by him listening to his story these last 17 years!!! Unbelievable as it seems but true.

Please feel free to see how you can help.....maybe you can provide this person with some part-time work..say 20 hours weekly or you have a computer in good order (say a 486 upward) you can do without or say contribute to his fund....even a Lm 1 donation would go a long way to help this poor young man to re-build the confidence in himself and in life!

Any contributions to Bank account no: 114 2683 0013 at APS Bank Ltd. A receipt will be issued for all donations received. Please supply e-mail address when payment is made so that we will keep updated (all those who are interested) about this case and whether we succeeded or not.

If by any chance you cannot help at all in any way indicated above could you please forward this e-mail to all persons in your e-mail data base so that this appeal will reach as much people as possible.
