The party finished Friday morning 5am. I left for the 7:30am Lufthansa flight to Frankfurt where a connecting flight would see me in Malta by 1pm. The goodbyes to the remaining well lubricated guests was easy; after all, Andrea will arrive at Luqa by 8pm. Saying goodbye to Vienna was harder than I could imagine.
The Taxi driver tried small talk. It being German and my comprehension resides in ordering food and drink only; I just nodded and made little noises until I drifted off to sleep for the 20-minute drive to the airport.
I kept asking if I should return. Previous holidays do not even hold a candle to this one. Resolving to come back my mind calculated the options. Maybe 3 weeks early next year…I wonder if the Government would let me live there without a EU passport! Got to go, need to buy a Conversational German CD course.
