- Charles Flask- (was born at Cospicua on July 11, l907. He was
the oldest of five children, three male and two female. At the age of
16 he started to successfully participate in the regatta with the
Cospicua team. However, his most successful sports was that of Waterpolo
with the team of San Giljan and later found the team of Marsascala. In
1936, when Malta participated in the Olympics, his exclusion created
turmoil. He was considered as one of the best waterpolo players on the
island. His exclusion was in part due to the fact that as a member of
the regatta, he must have received some prize money and so jeopardizing
his amateur status (he never spoke to his children about this). His sports
career continued with swimming. He held records for 50 and 100yds
freestyle. Charles Flask, also found and coached the Little St.Georges
soccer team. He married at the age of 35 and raised seven
kids. At age 40 he quit any active sports participation to dedicate the
rest of his life to his children. People called him ic-Charlie or il-Flask. His children
fondly called him PA. He died on May 29, 1978. His seven kids are
in three countries: Malta, Australia, USA.)
