Joe Vassallo
Joseph Vassallo, (son of Johnny and Lucia the oldest of his sister and two brothers) was born on the island of Malta in May of 1964. He grew up in the humble neighborhoods of this tiny Mediterranean island (just a few miles South of Sicily) playing soccer on the streets in the morning and sitting on the stoop of the local social club telling tales and laughing through the hot summer nights. Although he graduated, school was never a priority in his life instead he aspired to become a professional Pool Player. Joseph got the bug for acting at age 13, when he visited the set of "MIDNIGHT EXPRESS" in Malta, where his father was making some extra money working as an extra. This was the birth for "acting" in Joseph's life and soon he joined the Manuael Theater in Valletta. Joseph's life took him to different directions. At 16, he left home to Switzerland where he resided for two years. Since, he has lived in five different countries, been around the world over 11 times and speaks five different languages.
Acting became his focus once again and brought him to New York in the mid-80s where he pursued legendary acting teachers and the stage. In 1988 he moved to Hollywood CA where he continued to study his craft with teachers such as Sandford Meisner, Stella Adler and Joanne Barron and played in more then 18 stage plays such as "A Hatful of Rain, A View From The Bridge and Othello...."
Joseph's first big break that helped put him on the American map, so to speak, came with Sony/Columbia's "Blankman", in which he Co-starred opposite Damon Wayans and Jason Alexander. Shortly after followed "My Brother Jack" opposite "Cinema Paradiso" Marco Leonardi, followed by "4th Tenor, The" opposite the funny Rodney Dangerfield, then the Feature Comedy "Just Married" and in this film Joseph plays opposite Brittany Murphy.
For Joseph, Television has been no exception. He had the privilege to Guest Star opposite some TV icons such as, Dick Van Dyke in "Diagnosis Murder", "Alias" with Jennifer Garner, "Damon", and ABC's successful Sitcom, "My Wife and Kids" again opposite the "generous and hysterically funny" Damon Wayans and the "wonderful and very talented", Tisha Campbell-Martin.
He has also performed on several TV commercial , as well written a half a dozen screenplays and a Sitcom pilot for TV.
In 1998 Joseph formed "Barbulino Entertainment' and is currently producing his first feature film in which Joseph will play one of the lead roles. The screenplay is written by Joseph Vassallo himself.
