He left Malta with his family in July 1948 on the P&O liner, SS Strathnaver
and arrived in Sydney in August of the same year.
In January 1995 he was awarded the Order of Australia Medal for services to
the Maltese Community and to Soccer (Football).
He was one of the founders of the Melita Soccer Club in Sydney which later became
Melita Eagles United after amalgamating with Malta Eagles. He served on the Committee
as Secretary from 1953 to 1960 when he resigned due to
family reasons and rejoined in 1978 when the children grew up. He rejoined
the club in 1978 where he served as Manager, Secretary, Vice President and
President. He retired in 1996 due to ill health.
Recently he was asked to take over as Secretary of the
club and was elected to Life Membership of the Club in 1985.
He was also elected Life Member of the Maltese Community Council of NSW
of which he had been Treasurer since 1981.
Also was elected Life Member of the NSW Soccer Federation where he served
on the Board for 7 years (1989-1996)
He was an Executive Member of the Australian National Soccer League and a
member of the National and Interstate Committee of the Australian Soccer Federation.
He was also elected Life Member of Soccer Australia.
